Italian kitchen 35 dishes you must try

Italian cuisine is world famous and very popular in Russia, but few know that the birthplace of pasta and pizza is famous not only for these two inventions. For those who are going to spend a holiday in Italy, Tripadvice have prepared a short guide to the most popular Italian dishes. Today we present the first part appetizers, soups and entrees.

1. Antipasti (antipasti)

Literally translated as “what is served before the pasta,” that is snacks. This cold appetizers of seafood, meat (often served thinly sliced ham and sausage), poultry, vegetables.

2. Caprese salad (caprese)

Named after the island of Capri and is one of the most famous Italian dishes. A very Patriotic dish, a variety of antipasti, where each ingredient is – tomatoes, mozzarella and Basil – represents one of the colors of the Italian flag.

3. Carpaccio (carpaccio)

Carpaccio is thin slices of raw meat or fish, marinated in lemon juice and olive oil. It is usually served with flakes of fresh Parmesan.

4. Frittata (frittata)

The Italian version of the omelet, characterized by a thousand different fillings, including the remaining from yesterday’s dinner, potato or pasta.

5. Octopus salad (insalata di polpo)

Lasagna is a “sandwich” of plates of pasta and toppings (sauce Bolognese, spinach, tomatoes or vegetables), drenched in Bechamel sauce and sprinkled thickly with grated cheese. Baked in the oven. Recently a couple of enthusiastic British scientists dug up a mention of climbing in the British medieval cookbook and now seriously argues that the lasagna is British, not Italian dish.

18. Gnocchi (gnocchi)

Gnocchi – so read this eerily written word, the name of a harmless and very delicious. Gnocchi is an Italian dumpling made from potato, semolina, cheese or cottage cheese and served with tomato or any other sauce.

19. Risotto (risotto)

Especially popular in Northern Italy. For cooking risotto uses a special rice varieties, and lots of additives in seafood, mushrooms, vegetables or meat.

Best of all, if the consistency of the dish will be creamy – rice stewed in broth, and the dish is almost ready add the mixture of butter and cheese.
